Position Overview
The City of Boca Raton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Land Surveyor to oversee complex surveying and property acquisition operations. This role involves significant responsibility and requires a deep understanding of surveying principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily functions of the Survey Section and the Property/Land Record Section.
- Coordinate multiple ongoing projects related to surveys and land transactions for various city departments.
- Conduct thorough research of public records to prepare stakeout sheets for establishing control points for boundary, topographic, and utility surveys.
- Develop and oversee the division budget, ensuring effective monitoring of expenditures.
- Review and validate field notes, sketches, and legal descriptions for compliance with established standards.
- Ensure all plans and surveys meet city codes and state regulations.
- Maintain and regularly update the City benchmark map for external use.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of surveying techniques and drafting tools.
- Proficient in engineering mathematics and civil engineering principles.
- Ability to effectively supervise and guide subordinate staff.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating survey data and compliance.
Education and Experience
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree in mathematics, land surveying, or a related field, along with substantial experience in land surveying, including supervisory roles.
Licensure
Must possess a valid professional Land Surveyor registration in the State of Florida.
Additional Requirements
Must hold a valid driver's license and meet background check requirements.
