Job Overview

Aptim Environmental & Infrastructure, LLC, a leading environmental and engineering firm with a national presence, is seeking a senior-level Geomatics Manager to lead our topographic and hydrographic coastal monitoring program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a staff of surveyors, internal and external clients, project/program management, internal and external business development, and assisting in performing a variety of hydrographic work in support of coastal, ports, and marine projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in business development activities, manage client relationships, write proposals, and present selection, technical, and conference presentations.
  • Develop and implement a broad business development strategy to grow the Geomatics service line.
  • Serve as a mentor to survey staff, providing continuous improvement through implementation of lessons learned and constructive annual performance evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with a diverse group of program directors, project managers, engineers, and scientists on various project needs.
  • Perform project and program management activities in a managerial role, responsible for scope, budget, and schedule, working in close coordination with project teams, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Design, manage, and contribute to field programs and field data analysis.
  • Be willing to take on growth assignments and develop into front-line leadership within the service line.
  • Maintain an entrepreneurial spirit and look for opportunities outside of general areas of practice.
  • Act as a Professional Surveyor of Record for various coastal and marine topographic and/or hydrographic survey projects.
  • Oversee and manage the collection, processing, and interpretation of multibeam and single-beam sonar data.
  • Develop project plans, specifications, analyses, evaluations, maps, procedures, and reports.
  • Manage office and field projects from planning, execution, logistics, team management, data processing, deliverable development, and overall general safety.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Develop plans, specifications, analyses, evaluations, maps, position papers, procedures, and reports.
  • Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. via oral presentations.
  • Work in combination with GPS, geophysical, and geotechnical equipment.
Requirements
  • Licensed Professional Surveyor, preferably in Florida and/or Louisiana, with the ability to seek additional state licensure as needed.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in hydrography, geomatics, geology, geophysics, geological oceanography, or a related field of study.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and technical/scientific writing skills.
  • Experience with multibeam sonar survey design, implementation, data collection, data interpretation, product development, and reporting.
  • Marine hydrographic data interpretation experience using Hypack.
  • Experience with ArcGis, AutoCAD, Surfer software is preferred.
  • Works independently with minimal guidance, determines own work priorities, and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Has expertise in own discipline, applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
  • Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions to nonstandard requests.
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.
  • Monitors and controls costs within own work and Team's work.
  • Manages own time to meet agreed targets, develops plans for short-term work activities in own area.
  • Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus.
  • Promotes teamwork, coaches, and guides others.
  • Typically has 10-20 years relevant experience.
