Position Title: Cytotechnologist

Position Summary: Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL), part of Genesis Biotechnology Group, focuses on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing with a comprehensive array of examinations in infectious diseases. Our primary research areas include Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

The Cytotechnologist is responsible for conducting specialized and intricate testing that entails microscopic examination and assessment of both gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, providing insights to the Supervisory Cytotechnologist and Pathologists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct meticulous and precise microscopic analysis of cellular samples utilizing established criteria for cytological interpretations.
  • Collaborate findings with the supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.
  • Accurately document all relevant specimen and result data.
  • Perform fine needle aspirations to prepare biopsies and evaluate cellular adequacy.
  • Ensure individual specimen turnaround times align with laboratory expectations.
  • Maintain safe and compliant use of cytological activities and equipment in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Employ established laboratory techniques for the preparation of high-quality slides from cytological samples.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all activities are performed safely and materials are handled according to safety regulations.
  • Uphold customer privacy at all times.
  • Actively participate as a team member and take responsibility for individual work duties.
  • Deliver information in a supportive, timely, and comprehensible manner.
  • Demonstrate initiative in diagnosing and resolving issues proactively.
  • Exhibit consistent productive work habits.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality across all tasks.

Qualifications: General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) Required

  • ASCP Board Certification
  • Experience with Thin-Prep Imaging System; familiarity with Review Scope is advantageous.

Physical Requirements: Physical, Mental, and Workplace Environment Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions (microscopic screening).
  • Strong visual and auditory skills.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory setting.
  • Use of personal protective equipment may be necessary.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, blood, and body fluids.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • 0-2+ years of related experience.
