As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing personal care, behavioral support, and skill development to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care and support to individuals with IDD and mental health needs, including assistance with daily living activities, meal preparation, and transportation.
- Implement behavior management plans and support individuals in developing coping strategies to manage their behavior.
- Facilitate skill-building activities, including social skills, communication, and life skills training, to help individuals achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
- Recognize signs of distress and de-escalate situations effectively and safely, ensuring the well-being of individuals and staff.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities, providing valuable insights for treatment planning and improvement.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or Social Work preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with experience working with IDD, mental health, and/or dually diagnosed populations preferred.
- Must be able to complete a two-week new hire orientation class and work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
- Must be able to work holidays and pass pre-employment medical screenings, including a drug test, physical, and TB test.
- Paid time off (24 days per year, increasing with years of service); sick time (64 hours per year).
