Quality Assurance Specialist

Oversee the resolution of issues and implement strategies to minimize waste and rework. Actively engage in the resolution of Corrective Action Requests (CARs), participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) teams, ensure compliance of quality documentation with IATF standards, and contribute to internal audits. Develop control charts for operator reference, conduct capability studies, and adjust control limits as necessary.
Serve as a liaison between corporate and plant engineering teams. Collaborate with clients to address quality concerns and foster positive relationships with suppliers. Lead initiatives to resolve internal quality challenges and engage with suppliers for issue resolution and APQP activities. Support Six Sigma Black Belt, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Represent quality in APQP/Change Management for new or modified products, ensuring completion of all related assignments.
• Establish dimensional control methods and implement early production containment strategies.
• Develop gage specifications, manage quoting, and approve gages for operational use.
• Document and implement gage usage instructions, calibration processes, maintenance requirements, and necessary spare parts.
• Conduct measurement system analysis on both existing and new gages, addressing any identified deficiencies.
• Create Process Control Plans based on Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEAs to guarantee product compliance with specifications.
• Generate Control Plan-driven process evaluations and documentation for manufacturing and testing purposes.
• Plan, direct, and report on statistical analysis and capability assessments of product/process features.
• Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new or altered products.
• Collaborate with customers on product development, special characteristics identification, APQP, and launch activities.
• Assist the plant in problem-solving and corrective action initiatives.
• Promote and establish error-proofing methods and verification processes.
• Provide training on quality methodologies.
• Track and eliminate deviations.
• Resolve customer/supplier concerns.
• Supervise and guide Quality Auditors.
• Support and eliminate Material Review Board (MRB) issues.
• Manage document control processes.
• Ensure effective containment of nonconforming products.
• Undertake other related tasks or projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications Required/Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a quality or engineering-related role.
• Familiarity with IATF-16949 and knowledge of DQLP/MBNQA criteria.
• A.S.Q. Certified Quality Engineer is preferred.
• Certified Internal Quality Auditor is preferred.
• Experience with FMEA, Process Control Plans, Design of Experiments (DOE), and process improvements is preferred.
• Proficiency in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
