- Lead a high-performing team of seafood department associates, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities to ensure excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering, and receiving to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with store leadership to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory requirements to ensure the seafood department remains competitive and compliant.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to Whole Foods Market's food safety and quality standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and make recommendations for promotions, transfers, or terminations.
- Participate in store-wide initiatives and projects, contributing to the overall success of the store.
- 24+ months retail experience, including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
- Advanced knowledge of seafood products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operations-related applications.
The Seafood Team Leader will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent interactions with customers, vendors, and team members. The role requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as working in a wet and cold environment. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.
