Position Overview:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Conway Medical Center plays a crucial role in delivering direct nursing care to patients under the guidance of a registered nurse or physician. The LPN is responsible for providing and documenting care, ensuring that it aligns with physician orders and the established nursing care plan. Patient responses to care are communicated to the supervising registered nurse for assessment and necessary adjustments to the care plan.

Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Practical Nurse program is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is advantageous.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Active licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in South Carolina (or a compact state) in good standing is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential.

  • Exceptional customer service skills are necessary.
  • Strong understanding of nursing principles and practices is required.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional interaction with challenging patients.
  • High-stress levels due to simultaneous demands.
  • Exposure to radiation and biohazardous materials is a consideration.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required.

Physical Demands:

This position requires medium physical exertion. The employee must frequently stand, sit, and walk; occasionally use hands and fingers; and frequently communicate verbally. The role involves lifting and moving objects weighing between 10 to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing ability is essential for processing instructions and responding to safety alerts.
