Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. This role assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of the RN.
  • Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure.
  • Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately documents productivity information.
  • Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS within 18 months of hire, or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV Specific certification.
  • RCIS or RCES.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP).
  • ACLS and Surgical Technologist License with DORA obtained within 3 months of hire in state of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab is preferred.
Work Environment

This role requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts.

Physical Requirements

This role requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
