Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the district's mission, values, and goals.
- Manage the district's media relations, including responding to media inquiries, crafting press releases, and developing media kits.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the district's website, social media, and other digital communications channels.
- Collaborate with district leaders to develop and implement strategic communications plans to support district initiatives and goals.
- Provide communications support to district departments and schools, including developing and disseminating communications materials, such as newsletters and press releases.
- Manage the district's crisis communications efforts, including developing and implementing crisis communications plans and responding to crisis situations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and national media outlets to promote the district's story and build positive relationships.
- Provide communications support to district events, including developing and implementing communications plans, managing event logistics, and providing on-site communications support.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in communications and public relations, and apply this knowledge to improve the district's communications efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in communications and public relations, with a strong background in education.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong understanding of education and the role of communications in supporting district goals and initiatives.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including media, community leaders, and district staff.
The Executive Director of Communications and Public Relations will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The position also requires a strong understanding of education and the role of communications in supporting district goals and initiatives.
