Job Summary

Hawai'i Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Syringe Exchange Program Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will play a critical role in providing harm reduction-focused services to marginalized populations in Hawai'i.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and engagement with individuals and communities at high risk of substance use and overdose.
  • Provide HIV/AIDS, STD, and viral hepatitis prevention education and counseling.
  • Offer overdose prevention education and naloxone distribution to program participants.
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement alternative prevention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and data entry in an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License and clean three-year (3-year) Driver's Abstract.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination.
  • TB Clearance.
  • Hep B Clearance and/or Vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Social Work (or comparable degree).
  • Relevant life experience and/or experience in street-based outreach and harm reduction.
  • Training in substance use, harm reduction, and dual diagnosis.
