Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at The Animal Foundation. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to animals in our shelter and clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including surgeries, exams, and vaccinations.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, to diagnose and treat medical conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of animals in our care, including providing nutritional support and administering vaccinations.
  • Assist with animal handling, restraint, and transportation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care and treatment.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other animal care staff to ensure high-quality care and treatment of animals.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest veterinary techniques and best practices.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a degree as a veterinary technician from a college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association or the appropriate agency in the state where the college is located.
  • One (1) year of experience in a veterinary clinic, hospital, or animal shelter.
  • Valid Nevada Veterinary Technician (VT) license.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to animals, animal waste, and potentially hazardous conditions. The successful candidate must be able to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally. The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and veterinarians.
