Key Responsibilities:

The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is accountable for ensuring the quality of nursing care delivered in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role involves developing and implementing policies, procedures, clinical orientation, staff development, mentoring, and consultation, while maintaining compliance with state and national standards of care.

The CNS is also responsible for the collection, submission, evaluation, and dissemination of necessary data. The NICU education plan is crafted and executed in collaboration with the NICU Nursing and Medical Directors.


Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State.
  • Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from the State Board of Nursing.
  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from a nationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing care, with at least one (1) year in a NICU equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU.

Additional requirements include:

  • NRP certification upon hire and maintenance of current status.
  • NRP Instructor certification preferred.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance of current status.
