Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Field Service Technician Co-Op to join our team in Beltsville, MD. As a Field Service Technician Co-Op, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of mission-critical field activities and optimizing efficiency by utilizing academic principles gained in PGCC courses in a dynamic professional setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
  • Maintain and document complex communications systems.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues.
  • Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Preferred Candidate Knowledge/Experience:
  • Actively pursuing a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN).
  • Computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
  • R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
  • Standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
During the Co-Op Program, you will gain system experience with the following equipment:
  • Motorola Base Stations (STR series, GTR series, Quantar, etc.).
  • Consoles (Gold Elite, MCC7500, MCC7100).
  • Computer IP Networks and Configuration.
  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred.
The Co-Op will gain technical skills in the use of various communications test equipment including:
  • Communication System Analyzers.
  • Ethernet Link test sets.
  • Digital RF Power Meter.
  • Motorola Conventional, SmartNet and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x - A20.x, Digital systems and installation procedures.

Basic Requirements:
  • Must be a current student attending Prince George Community College.
  • Must be in the Computer Engineering Technology Program or Cybersecurity Certificate Program or a similar technical program.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
