Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a ROI Technician II. This role is responsible for processing requests for the release of medical information in a timely and accurate manner, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and fulfill medical information requests received through various channels, including fax, phone, and electronic means.
  • Perform second-level review of authorizations to ensure HIPAA compliance prior to fulfilling requests.
  • Track the status of each request through closure, capturing page count and media type in the applicable ROI system(s).
  • Ensure quality by verifying documents released to requestors are accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with team members to minimize turnaround time of requests based on established priorities and date of receipt.
  • Generate invoices for billable requests in compliance with YNHHS policy and department procedure.
  • Recall hard copy medical records from off-site storage as needed to fulfill requests.
  • Interact professionally with co-workers and staff from other departments and vendors.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations and relevant laws.
  • Monitor Outlook email account and respond appropriately to emails from department leaders, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain competency in navigation of various EMR systems required to fulfill release of information duties.
  • Manage electronic work queue, operate desktop scanner, and produce documents in format specified by requestor.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred; formalized medical record technician training.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years related health care experience, or successful completion of Health Information Management program internship.
  • Knowledge of federal privacy regulations and state laws a plus.
