Job Summary

The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team. As a Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for performing various transportation construction and engineering work in office and field settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Area Construction Senior Transportation Engineer and/or the Resident Engineer, incumbent performs various transportation construction and engineering work in the office and field settings.
  • Incumbent will review and analyze data, reports, and other documents to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent will develop and implement plans, designs, and specifications for transportation projects, including roadways, bridges, and other infrastructure.
  • Incumbent will conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Incumbent will collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
Working Conditions

Incumbent will work in a variety of settings, including office, laboratory, and field environments. Incumbent may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather. Incumbent may also be required to work at heights and in confined spaces.
