About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative I to join our team at the Medical Center. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth registration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage front desk responsibilities, including greeting patients, checking in, registering walk-in patients, and answering phones.
  • Collect patient responsibility and review demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain patient responsibility.
  • Communicate with patients regarding payment expectations and financial obligations.
  • Identify patients in need of financial assistance and refer to the Financial Advocate.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Advocate to coordinate patient financial resources and responsibilities.
  • Monitor patient flow and ensure efficient and courteous care.
  • Schedule patient visits and assist with new caregiver onboarding.
  • Work assigned EPIC work queues and maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in customer service or clerical/office experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues and problems.
  • Mathematical aptitude, effective communication skills, and critical thinking skills.
  • Understanding of basic human anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and speak effectively to customers or employees.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Technical proficiency in insurance verification/eligibility tools, EPIC electronic medical record, patient liability estimation tools, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and phone technology.
