We are currently in search of a meticulous and reliable Junior Geotechnical Engineer to become a vital part of our Engineering team. The primary role of the Junior Engineer will involve conducting geotechnical and forensic engineering assessments and studies with precision and efficiency, adhering to budgetary constraints under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer and the mentorship of senior team members.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Acting as a Junior Engineer on geotechnical projects, ensuring project coordination from inception to completion while delivering reports and projects punctually and within budget.
  • Conducting field-logging activities when engineering oversight is necessary during drilling operations.
  • Coordinating drilling efforts with subcontractors and internal field staff.
  • Classifying soil samples in the laboratory and preparing logs for submission to drafting or creating drafted logs as required.
  • Assigning laboratory testing tasks in line with the established testing program and providing assistance and training to laboratory personnel as directed.
  • Analyzing field data and laboratory results, performing calculations essential for the completion of engineering reports.
  • Submitting preliminary geotechnical engineering reports for review and final reports for co-signature with a licensed professional engineer and senior staff.
  • Engaging in personal professional development and collaborating with senior staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of relevant standards, specifications, and engineering practices.
  • Providing field observation services to support the Construction Materials Testing Section.
  • Reviewing prebilling invoices for assigned projects.
  • Maintaining communication with clients regarding invoicing and payment status.
  • Striving to achieve an average billing level of no less than 85 percent.
  • Actively participating in designated technical and/or professional organizations as determined by the Direct Report.
  • Promptly notifying the Supervisor and Chief Operating Officer of any potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation.
  • Understanding, adhering to, and participating in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and Behavior-Based Safety Programs, exemplifying our safety standards.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification in the State of Texas is preferred or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
  • A valid driver's license and compliance with the company's auto insurability requirements are necessary.

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with various levels within the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess a good attendance record, and be capable of working independently.

The physical demands of this role include regular sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and talking. The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is necessary, including tools and sample containers. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The work environment noise level is typically moderate, with potential exposure to construction site conditions.
