Position Summary

The Portland Transportation division of AECOM is seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Engineer with a strong background in railway, roadway, highway, and civil site design. This position is integral to our established surface transportation team, engaging with a diverse range of clients and projects across the West Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop roadway systems
  • Engage in transportation and multi-modal planning initiatives
  • Oversee construction management and conduct safety audits
  • Collaborate with colleagues on rail and transit infrastructure projects across various governmental levels
  • Act as a senior technical resource and advisor for project teams
  • Provide specialized technical input to enhance project studies and designs
  • Establish procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and technical effort assessments
  • Utilize expertise in completing discipline components of PS&E packages
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings
  • Draft technical specification sections
  • Contribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules
  • Mentor and manage junior staff members

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oregon Professional Engineer License or eligibility to obtain within six months
  • Experience in designing and producing plans for transportation and civil infrastructure projects
  • Prior experience in railroad, highway, or roadway design
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in problem-solving
  • Proficiency in InRoads and/or Civil 3D software for design tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Design-Build projects is advantageous
