Job Summary:

The City of Missouri City (TX) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Inspector to join our team. As a Code Enforcement Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting code inspections, investigating complaints, and enforcing city codes and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled inspections to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances, documenting discrepancies and writing reports.
  • Investigate reports of code violations, identifying and addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Locate, remove, and dispose of illegal signs, ensuring public safety and property standards.
  • Effectively handle and resolve complaints, problems, and inquiries related to potential code violations, providing excellent customer service.
  • Complete administrative duties, including responding to inquiries, copying, and faxing information.
  • Work with the public to educate them on enforcement of laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances, promoting community awareness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with City personnel to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • May be required to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, supporting the City's mission and goals.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and a valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
  • Minimum of two years of relatable work experience in inspection and enforcement of codes and ordinances, preferably in nuisance violations, unsafe building conditions, property standards, or fire, health, or building regulations.
  • Applicant must be able to possess or obtain Basic Code Enforcement Officer certification from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) within one year of employment.
