Job Title: Assistant Warehouse Manager

Join the Flour Bluff Independent School District team as an Assistant Warehouse Manager, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Food Service Department's operations. This position is responsible for assisting in the supervision and management of the Central Kitchen Warehouse, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and delivery of food and supplies to multiple campuses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in supervising warehouse workers and coordinating their tasks to promote efficient operations.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in the warehouse storage areas, equipment, and refrigeration.
  • Provide training to warehouse employees on various duties and tasks.
  • Assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency and productivity.
  • Verify food and supply quantities transported to cafeterias with order sheets.
  • Maintain records of extra food and supplies used and leftovers returned to the Central Kitchen Warehouse.
  • Store food and supplies in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to quality standards.
  • Assist in monthly inventory and ordering of food and supplies using computer programs.
  • Work within a framework of multiple and complex regulations and time schedules.
  • Establish rapport with students, school personnel, community, and the School Nutrition department.
  • Maintain good working communications with coworkers and other staff-team members.
  • Maintain a good attitude in difficult situations.
  • Help maintain cohesiveness among team members.
  • Perform duties in a timely and organized manner.
  • Project a professional image through demeanor and dress.
  • Comply with School Nutrition Service Department policies and procedures.
  • Comply with policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and addendum.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Adhere to proper channels when communicating ideas, problems, etc.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
  • Completion of adult school or college courses in quantity food production and service, nutrition, sanitation, and supervision is desirable.
  • One-year experience in commercial or institutional quantity food storage, inventory, and delivery service to several campuses per day is desirable.
  • Experience in supervision of food service warehouse employees is desirable.
  • Basic personal computer and keyboard skills are desirable.
  • Customer service and public relations skills and professionalism are required.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to work with students, district staff, and administration with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Basic skills in reading, arithmetic, and record keeping are required.
  • Completion of 15-hour Food Service Manager Course approved by the Department of State Health Services is required.
  • Continuing Education/Training as required by Texas Department of Agriculture Professional Standards 6 hours per year.
  • Use of delivery truck with lift, forklift, and pallet jack is required.
  • Must be able to work with heights with no fear is desirable.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequent lifting, stacking, carrying, pulling, walking, pushing, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Daily exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
