Position Overview

As a Strategic Financial Leader, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing sound and effective programs in the areas of capital, funding, investments, cash management, forecasting, budgeting, audit, vendor management, loss reserves, regulatory reporting, strategic planning, financial reporting & metrics, human resources, payroll/benefits, branch operations, loan operations, deposit operations, and similar activities within guidelines established by the Bank and the Board of Directors.
  • Providing supervision and support to all assigned areas of department operations where service or assistance is needed, and overseeing activities of department support personnel and opening and closing department.
  • Participating and assisting the Bank in formulating and meeting its overall strategic business plans and goals, including the Bank's annual operating budget, capital plan and budget, and interest rate risk (IRR) strategy.
  • Developing strategies and tactical business plans to help achieve organizational objectives, participating in the development and implementation of both long- and short-range financial plans, and recommending new efforts to improve ROE/ROA.
  • Determining the appropriate allocation of resources to ensure maximum profits commensurate with the best interests of shareholders, customers, and employees, and providing expert financial advice and input to the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
  • Serving as chairperson of the Bank's Management Asset/Liability Committee (MALCO) and coordinating the Bank's asset/liability management programs to facilitate the assessment and control of interest rate risk and ensuring compliance with Bank financial objectives.
  • Assisting in capital raise activities and in planning and executing the Bank's planned future IPO or public listing, maintaining lists of shareholders, shareholder relations, and communications, and participating in quarterly and periodic investor conference calls.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing effective processes related to the Bank's capital and asset and liability structure by evaluating the structure, position, and strategies in order to maximize the Bank's interest margin and overall profitability while managing the Bank's interest rate risk position in a safe and sound manner.
  • Conducting financial and management reporting processes, preparing forecasting and budgeting plans, and conducting regular and ad-hoc financial reporting as required by the Board of Directors, President, and CEO, shareholders, and other members of Senior Management.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting policies, procedures, practices, and internal controls, establishing and maintaining accounting, and fiscal controls, and the preparation and interpretation of internal and external financial reports.
  • Overseeing the preparation of all regulatory filings, including quarterly Call Reports, tax filings, and other reports that may be requested by various regulatory agencies.
  • Participating in the evaluation of potential merger and acquisition (M&A) candidates and coordinating the preparation of M&A financial projections.
  • Assuring audit compliance and procedure quality control are maintained for the department and Bank, reviewing, recommending, and initiating corrective actions, overseeing certification and audit activities for all branches and departments, and ensuring department follows established Bank policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.

  • Assuring compliance with all Bank policies, procedures, and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations, and adhering to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.
Qualifications

Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Strategic Financial Leader who enjoys your work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Strategic Financial Leader would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training. Work-related experience must consist of management experience in the financial services industry.
  • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry-related curriculum, should be business or financial industry-related.
  • CPA designation, professional banking school completion, and accreditation, and/or advanced education beyond a college degree is preferred, ideally in a financial or business discipline, such as a master's degree or MBA.
