**Job Overview:** The State of Virginia is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Veteran Peer Specialist to provide critical support services to veterans. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served our country.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver peer coaching and advocacy services to veterans, service members, and transitioning service members
  • Collaborate with veteran peers to develop personalized plans and strategies for overcoming challenges
  • Engage with clients through active listening, empathy, and compassion to build trust and rapport
  • Stay informed about local resources and services to ensure seamless referrals and connections

Qualifications:

  • One-year post-military experience addressing personal challenges related to PTSD, TBI, transition, and other military service-related concerns
  • Proficiency in public speaking and delivery of subject matter trainings related to SMVF population
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to demonstrate creativity in developing strategies to resolve barriers to treatment and supportive services access
