Position Overview:

The faculty members at Atlantic Cape Community College are dedicated educators tasked with the preparation and delivery of assigned courses. Faculty are expected to allocate approximately three-quarters of their time to teaching duties.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Instructs a total of 15 hours weekly in general education history courses, advanced history, and government classes.

Office Hours:

Maintains a minimum of three office hours each week to support student engagement.

Course Development:

Designs and delivers relevant course material for in-person, remote, and online formats, ensuring compliance with current accessibility standards.

Classroom Management:

Effectively communicates and implements classroom strategies.

Student Guidance:

Clarifies expectations and standards for all assignments, assessments, and class activities, while providing academic advising and support to students.

Professional Growth:

Engages in continuous professional development to enhance knowledge in pedagogy and the disciplines of history through various avenues such as self-study, workshops, and conferences.

Collaboration:

Works collaboratively with fellow history faculty to select instructional materials.

Assessment and Standards:

Contributes to the establishment of effective evaluation methods and clearly defined grading criteria, ensuring course consistency and academic integrity.

Departmental Engagement:

Adheres to departmental and institutional policies and participates in curriculum development and revision processes.

Community Involvement:

Engages in college-wide committee work, recruitment activities, student advising, community outreach, and other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in History or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of two years of teaching experience in history or a related discipline. Experience with Accelerated Learning Program courses and knowledge of WCAG/accessibility compliance is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

Proven teaching excellence with diverse student populations, strong communication and writing abilities, and proficiency in delivering instruction in various formats including in-person, via Zoom, and online through learning management systems.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools is essential.

Employment Terms:

This role may require flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and responsibilities at various Atlantic Cape locations.
