The Supply Chain and Inventory Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing the procurement and oversight of sufficient inventory levels essential for the efficient execution of various projects across multiple sites. This position will liaise with a diverse range of suppliers to guarantee that Chesapeake Utilities receives top-notch products that align with company standards while keeping a close eye on associated expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the acquisition of inventory across different facility sites to ensure the availability of materials necessary for the prompt completion of projects.
- Engage with a variety of suppliers to secure high-quality products at competitive prices.
- Collaborate in the development of material bid specifications in partnership with relevant departments. Manage the issuance of RFPs/bids, evaluate proposals, and facilitate approvals for bid awards.
- Conduct regular physical inventory audits and address any discrepancies. Support the finance team during cycle counts and year-end inventory assessments, providing explanations for variances.
- Process incoming deliveries from suppliers using the inventory management system, monitor backorders or undelivered items, and ensure proper stocking of materials.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory receipts and distributions, including the organization and retrieval of all inventory within the warehouse.
- Solicit quotes for vehicle acquisitions as required, manage vehicle purchases within budgetary constraints, and coordinate the transfer of vehicles for fleet management.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in inventory management or procurement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated integrity and analytical capabilities, with a strong ability to make sound decisions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Skilled in problem identification and resolution, with a collaborative approach to team problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for building effective relationships with colleagues, contractors, and suppliers.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination, with the potential to obtain a CDL.
- Capability to acquire and sustain Forklift Certification.
