Job Summary

The City of Zephyrhills is seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Operator to join our team. As a key member of our Police Department, you will be responsible for providing critical support to our on-duty shift, ensuring the efficient operation of our systems and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the police department's computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and access information systems for the police department network.
  • Receive and respond to public work calls, contacting on-call personnel as needed.
  • Handle minor reports and complaints, providing excellent customer service to the public.
  • Act as an information channel for on-duty patrol officers, running tags, driver's licenses, and warrant checks.
  • Monitor in-house and city-wide video security systems, directing requests to the proper authority for action.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public, adhering to a professional appearance and uniform dress code.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; progressive work experience in operating a police switchboard, radio communication system, and CAD system preferred.
  • Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Database for Annotation and Visualization and Integrated Discovery (DAVID) certifications required within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid State of Florida Class E driver's license required.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds. The work environment is safe and secure, with occasional crisis situations requiring major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
