Law Enforcement Officer

Job Summary:

Tooele County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order in Tooele County, enforcing laws, and protecting the citizens of assigned jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional duties to maintain law and order in Tooele County.
  • Enforce laws, maintain the peace, and protect the citizens of assigned jurisdictions.
  • Participate in time exchange programs after completion of initial 1 year probation period.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 21 years of age.
  • Valid Utah Driver's License at the time of hire.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Resident of the State of Utah.
  • No disqualifying criminal history.
  • No DUI convictions in the past two years.
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug testing, and psychological evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEO Certified.
  • Minimum of two (2) years as a certified law enforcement officer or similar experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer or three (3) years with a bachelor's Degree and have completed two (2) of the courses outlined in the Deputy II Career Ladder Advancement.
