Job Overview

HAMILTON-MADISON HOUSE is a nonprofit settlement house dedicated to improving the quality of life of its community. As an Accounting Specialist, you will support the Finance staff in managing day-to-day financial transactions, budgeting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting support for government contracts, including budgets, financial reporting, and preparing vouchers for drawdowns.
  • Assist with the monthly close process, financial reporting, and collaborate with colleagues in the Finance Department.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and other payroll-related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Record and process Accounts Receivable, daily banking transactions, and update Accounts Payable.
  • Support financial analysis and compliance with internal policies and procedures consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in finance, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

Compensation: $25.27 per hour, Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, 35 hours per week, In-Person.
