Job Summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in our Biddeford, ME office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing project construction from pre-construction through finalization, ensuring compliance with contract documents and plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Oversee, document, and verify the work and daily activities of road and bridge construction crews to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and document work zone and traffic control operations, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Reporting: Complete Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) for assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and materials incorporated into the project.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and help resolve challenges related to construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Attend pre-construction meetings and progress meetings, ensuring effective communication with project stakeholders.
  • Project Coordination: Help coordinate project start-up activities, ensuring a smooth transition from planning to execution.
  • Inspections: Conduct scoping and final inspections of parking lot resurfacing and reconstruction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Bridge Inspections: Assist with in-service bridge inspections and bridge project scoping, ensuring the safety and integrity of our infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma required; Associate degree in civil technology or related field desired.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related experience, including highway construction.
  • Certifications: Knowledge of MaineDOT specifications a plus; MaineDOT certifications preferred but not necessary.
  • Skills: Ability to work in a team environment, good communication skills, and basic computer knowledge.
  • Language: Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
