Albany Medical Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse I to join our dynamic Critical Care Float Pool team. This 36-hour per week, night shift position offers the opportunity to gain and practice critical care skills in various areas, including Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and intermediate care ICU (MSICU).
The successful candidate will have the chance to work in all Critical Care areas at a Level I trauma center and participate in additional training in Emergency Department care and neuro-progressive care areas. As a member of our team, you will contribute to creating a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families, and colleagues through kindness and active listening.
This role requires the ability to implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and document treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
You will be responsible for assessing and evaluating patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered. Additionally, you will provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered, and collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
To be eligible for this role, you must hold a current NYS Registered Nurse license, obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and possess minimum 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care. You will also need excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills, as well as knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques.
The estimated salary for this position is between $33,000 and $33,990 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
