Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) team at Albany Medical Center.

About the Role

This is a 36 hour per week NIGHTS position, providing specialized care to critically ill adult patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, as well as documenting treatment in accordance with company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Implementation of physician orders, medication administration, IV starts, treatments, procedures, and special tests.
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions.
  • Patient needs assessment and evaluation of patient responses to care rendered.
  • Sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
  • Primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Medication administration, including over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
  • Collaboration with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Direction and guidance of ancillary personnel and maintenance of professional nursing standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited academic program.
  • NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • At least 2 years' experience in med/surg or progressive care unit.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques.
Estimated Salary Range:

$34.65 - $35.69 per hour.
