Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Scheduler to join our team at PCL Construction Services, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer-focused relationships with trade partners, preparing quantity take-offs, and communicating with site staff and trade partners to determine actual construction progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with trade partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and incorporate production analysis into the schedule to ensure accurate project timelines.
  • Communicate with site staff and trade partners to determine actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates.
  • Contribute to the planning and scheduling process through various construction phases, including preconstruction, construction, and system completions.
  • Support interactive planning and scheduling sessions to ensure project teams are aligned and working towards common goals.
  • Assist project management in creating and monitoring short-term schedules and determining the impact on the master schedule.
  • Update schedule logic to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide progress reporting to project teams to ensure trade partner/crew performance aligns with milestone dates.
  • Create 2D visual and 4D graphic schedules to enhance project understanding and communication.
  • Implement trade partner schedules into the master project schedule and track progress.
  • Incorporate resource and load costing data into schedules as required and align the schedule with other project management tools.
Requirements
  • Engineering Technology diploma or Engineering bachelor's degree preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience.
  • Basic knowledge of construction specifications, building materials, methods, and procedures, and the ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and proposal documents.
  • Basic understanding of field construction operations and how a project is constructed, including logical sequencing of work through all phases of the project from pursuit to project closeout.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering and planning principles to construction challenges.
  • Ability to complete quantity take-offs and understand productivity rates.
  • General understanding of planning and scheduling principles, best practices, and techniques.
  • Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with multiple stakeholders, including estimators, field supervision, trade partners, project teams, and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work under strict timelines and being flexible to changing needs.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
  • Basic working knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 EPPM.
  • Basic working knowledge of the Critical Path Scheduling method related to the construction industry.
