Culinary Specialist

The Common Market is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food according to our recipes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Support the co-op's core values and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Prepare food to order, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas.
- Monitor and control food temperatures to ensure food safety.
- Rotate stock and check for quality to ensure freshness.
- Complete daily shrink log and follow health department regulations.
- Remove trash, compost, and recyclables promptly.
- Use equipment safely and follow safe knife-handling procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
- Minimum one year's experience cooking in a kitchen environment.
- Strong numbers skills and ability to accurately measure ingredients.
- Knowledgeable of proper food-handling procedures.
- Practical cooking skills and ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (approximately 40°F – 95°F).
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and climb.
- Reliable access to transportation.
