Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering critical life-support services, resuscitation, and various medical gas therapies to patients. This role involves assisting individuals of all ages who are experiencing acute and chronic health issues, facilitating their return to a productive lifestyle through education and the application of diverse therapeutic techniques.
The therapist will perform both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units. Effective communication with patients, colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare professionals is essential to address patient care needs. Comprehensive documentation of all patient care activities is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and collaborate with healthcare providers for care planning.
- Delegate patient care tasks to support staff, ensuring clear communication and guidance.
- Engage in effective communication with team members and other professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Uphold high standards of clinical excellence in accordance with departmental policies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various clinical specialties and the use of diagnostic and monitoring equipment.
- Administer prescribed therapeutic modalities and medications, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Monitor and administer medical gases as per physician orders, utilizing appropriate delivery devices.
- Evaluate patients' pulmonary status and communicate findings to physicians, making therapy recommendations as necessary.
- Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, assessing patient responses to interventions.
- Collect and analyze arterial and capillary blood samples, documenting and communicating results appropriately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including equipment maintenance and testing.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program.
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred; minimum Associate of Science Degree required.
- Recent graduates or those with two years of experience in a tertiary hospital setting are encouraged to apply.
- Current Respiratory Therapist License from the state of practice.
- Successful completion of the National Board of Respiratory Care registration examination.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
- BLS certification from AHA required prior to employment.
