Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician I role at WakeMed Health & Hospitals involves providing direct patient care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse. Key responsibilities include performing patient care services, crisis intervention, therapeutic interactions, and milieu management. The successful candidate will utilize non-violent verbal and physical techniques to de-escalate patients and ensure safety.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care services, including vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and wound care
  • Conduct crisis intervention and therapeutic interactions to de-escalate patient behavior and ensure safety
  • Manage patient milieus, including maintaining a clean and safe environment and facilitating activity programs
Requirements
  • Nurse Aide I certification required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • 1 year of clinical experience in a related area required; 1 year of mental health experience preferred
