Position Overview:
The Inpatient Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to all patients within the healthcare system.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
Must possess a valid Registered Pharmacist License in Illinois upon employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in targeted studies and evaluations regarding medication use as assigned.
  • Deliver direct patient care by making necessary interventions to enhance prescribing, administration, and monitoring practices related to medications.
  • Serve as a representative of the pharmacy on various committees or work groups as designated.
  • Interpret and process physician medication orders promptly and accurately.
  • Review medication orders for possible interactions with other medications, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, or known allergies.
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians in the preparation and distribution of medications and parenteral solutions.
  • Provide dosage recommendations based on patient-specific factors such as age, weight, and renal function.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances.
  • Offer Medication Therapy Management Services in accordance with the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.
