Job Summary:

The Safety and Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and compliance programs within the transportation company and our locations.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of transportation regulations, industry best practices, and be committed to fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Safety and Compliance Programs: Develop and implement company-wide safety and compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Compliance: Monitor and evaluate compliance with safety and training regulations, policies, and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement and implementing corrective measures.
  • Conduct Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety protocols, identifying and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Develop and Deliver Training Programs: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, including but not limited to driver safety, emergency response, and accident prevention.
  • Investigate Accidents and Incidents: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain Records and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and compliance activities, including driver files, incident reports, training records, inspections, and audits.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor safety and compliance performance, analyze data, and prepare reports for management.
  • Foster a Safety-Conscious Culture: Foster a safety-conscious culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) working in a safety and compliance role within the transportation industry.
  • Commercial Driver's License: Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, including but not limited to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Safety Management Systems: Strong understanding of safety management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance auditing techniques.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Training Program Development: Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs on safety and compliance topics.
  • Safety Management Software: Proficiency in using safety management software and other relevant tools.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel as required to various company locations and regulatory meetings.
