Responsibilities- Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment.
- Perform screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
- Coordinate patient flow and maintain procedure quality control.
- Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment.
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses to be administered by radiologists.
- Subject patients to radiation.
- Execute blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory techniques.
- Administer intravenous injections in accordance with established procedures.
- Diploma/certificate from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
- State Nuclear Medicine License: Required in CA and HI.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine OR Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist: Required in CA and OR.
- Venipuncture certification: Required in CA and HI.
- State Nuclear Med Tech (SNMT): Required.
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or National Nuclear Med Tech (NMTCB): Required.
- Venipuncture (IV) certification: Required.
