Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of User Experience Design to join our Product Management team at Onbe. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end user experience design process, from research and concept development to design execution and usability testing.

You will mentor and grow a team of UX designers, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed. This is a partial player-coach role, where you will contribute design artifacts alongside the team as needed.

This role is a hybrid position that will work onsite 1-2 days per week at our Dallas, TX location. Occasional travel may be required as part of this position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive UI/UX strategy that aligns with Onbe's vision and goals, fostering collaboration and innovation across cross-functional teams.
  • Create and uphold UI/UX processes, methodologies, and successful approaches to encourage user-focused design, maintain uniformity, and enhance the flow between design systems.
  • Lead the creation and management of a design system, ensuring adherence to design principles and seamless integration across development teams.
  • Develop and implement user research processes to guide design decisions, incorporating user insights, competitive benchmarks, and design thinking at the beginning of the design process.
  • Stay updated on design trends and technologies to improve user experience, applying standard methodologies from both within and outside the financial services industry.
  • Collaborate with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to develop creative design solutions that meet user, product, and business requirements.
  • Take ownership of design projects, effectively managing resources and ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Collaborate with team members, customers, and partners to gather insights from digital analytics, user testing, and input, and use this information to drive improvements.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in UX, including leadership roles in product design and development required.
  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful UX strategies and practices, including both brand-new practices as well as strategies to implement enterprise-wide design system changes.
  • Solid understanding of user-centric design principles and methodologies, including design thinking innovation techniques, generative user research and co-creation, rapid prototyping, usability testing, and accessibility standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, senior stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Solid domain knowledge in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing demands. Skilled at execution as well as ideation.
  • Proficient with standard design and development software such as JIRA, and Miro.
  • Ability to create a safe and engaging environment to get the most out of the team and have fun along the way.
