Job Overview:

Guidehouse is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Paralegal Specialist to join our team in supporting the Department of Justice and providing expert litigation support services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing professional, accurate, and timely paralegal support to our litigating teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide research and analysis support to attorneys on various litigation matters, including employment and civil litigation cases.
  • Locate and review responsive information, identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles, and synthesize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Review case material and identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed case files, including organizing exhibits and assisting at trial.
  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including discovery requests and responses, drafting motions and briefs, and preparing draft legal documents.
  • Conduct legal analysis, review documents for relevance and privilege, and assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Review materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and prepare privilege logs.
  • Assist in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.

Requirements:

  • Active and maintained Top Secret federal security clearance.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience, such as litigation paralegal experience or FOIA analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience with trial experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Successful completion of Law Degree or Paralegal Studies/Certificate.
  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses, drafting motions and briefs, organizing exhibits, and assisting at trial.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.
  • General knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources is desired.
