Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Assistant to identify and acquire a diverse range of fresh produce, meats, and dry goods from local sources while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Generate analytical reports for management, tracking performance against key purchasing metrics.
  • Establish specifications for equipment and supplies, recommending effective procurement and bidding approaches.
  • Identify and engage new vendors, leading negotiations to ensure compliance with our service standards.
  • Address order-related issues and communicate unresolved vendor concerns to culinary management.
  • Monitor market dynamics, commodity pricing, and environmental factors to adjust purchasing strategies proactively.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality products.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers to enhance cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Work with the warehouse team to guarantee timely deliveries and effective inventory management.
  • Conduct routine quality assessments of incoming products to ensure they meet our standards.
  • Explore alternative sourcing options for cost savings and quality improvements.
  • Verify acknowledgment details, including pricing and expected delivery timelines.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and analytics for procurement activities.
  • Maintain data integrity across procurement and inventory systems.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or related fields.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; proof required.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Organized, punctual, and adept with technology.
  • Passionate about local food and nutrition.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred (Spanish).
  • Proven experience in produce procurement or similar roles within the food sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of agricultural markets and seasonal produce.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to cultivate effective supplier relationships.
