About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Lane County. As a key member of our Facilities Services division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our buildings and systems.


Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Inspect, adjust, and repair plumbing, heating, and electrical systems, as well as equipment, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on building structures, equipment, and systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operations.
  • Report any major structural or equipment damage to ensure prompt repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and adjust computerized systems, including the Delta system, to ensure efficient operation of mechanical building systems.
  • Install and change locks and door entry systems to maintain security and access control.
  • Service, maintain, and repair motors, filters, belts, coils, valves, and other components of air conditioning systems.
  • Service, maintain, and repair restrooms, toilets, urinals, sinks, drains, exhaust fans, and other related plumbing fixtures.
  • Verify proper operations for mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, fans, pumps, air compressors, and well tank systems.
  • Service, maintain, and repair structures, roofs, windows, doors, floor tile, walls, ceiling tile, lighting systems, and other related building structural components.
  • May assist in the maintenance and repair of Fairground or Corrections facilities.
  • May operate light equipment, such as forklifts and tractors, at the fairgrounds.

About the Division

The mission of Facilities Services is to provide a safe, functional, clean, and attractive environment for all staff and members of the community who visit our facilities. Operating under the Department of County Administration, our team of employees is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all county-owned buildings, utilities, and grounds, as well as custodial and cleaning services.


Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm. On-call as per operational need.


This is an AFSCME represented position.


Requirements

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or HVAC is desirable.

One year of responsible building maintenance experience, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repair, is desirable.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
