Imagine utilizing your engineering expertise to pave the way for enhanced energy efficiency and climate resilience within the defense sector. As an electrical engineer with a focus on energy system assessment, you will play a crucial role in crafting innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with complex electrical infrastructures. Your insights will be vital in pinpointing vulnerabilities within essential systems and developing strategies that bolster energy resilience while promoting carbon-neutral technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Department of Defense in achieving mission readiness through energy resilience initiatives.
- Evaluate energy vulnerabilities at military installations and propose comprehensive projects addressing electrical, mechanical, water, fuel, and communication systems.
- Conduct assessments of energy infrastructure, including electrical transmission and distribution networks, microgrids, and renewable energy technologies.
- Collaborate on projects that enhance the reliability of energy systems and influence energy decision-making processes.
- Travel between 25-50% of the time to various military sites to perform evaluations and assessments.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in power systems design and engineering methodologies.
- Experience with energy infrastructure, including renewable technologies such as solar, wind, and geothermal.
- Ability to provide constructive engineering recommendations for system optimization and improvement.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in assessing the condition and vulnerability of energy infrastructure.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment design, installation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant standards such as NFPA 70, IEEE, UFC, and UFGS.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- EIT Certification is a plus.
