Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Medstar. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process patient specimens for testing, ensuring accuracy and quality control
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and fingerstick, in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Label and barcode patient specimens and order requisitions, verifying orders in the computer system
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and medical personnel, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of Phlebotomy coursework required
  • Previous experience in high-volume outpatient lab or inpatient setting preferred
  • CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification or equivalent MLA Certification preferred
