Key Responsibilities- Collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and fingerstick, with precision and care.
- Label and barcode specimens, verify orders, and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and infection control policies.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure smooth operations and timely results.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of phlebotomy coursework preferred.
- Previous experience in a high-volume outpatient lab or inpatient setting preferred.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (CPT) and/or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
Medstar offers a competitive salary range of $19.17 - $31.36, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and opportunities for professional growth and development.
