As a Surgical Team Assistant at Mercy Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical team. Responsibilities:

• Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room for procedures, including setting up equipment and supplies.

• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols and guidelines.

• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the safe positioning of patients during procedures, taking into account their anatomical and physiological limitations.

• Perform specific tasks as directed by the surgeon, including incision and closure of surgical sites, providing exposure, and applying dressings.

• Assist in the transfer of patients to recovery and provide support to the surgical team as needed.

Requirements:

• Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP.

• Three to five years of experience in a First Assist role.

• Certification in NTSBSA CST or CSFA, or ABSA CST or CSFA.

Physical Demands:

The Special Physical Demands of this position are considered Essential Job Functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
