Job Summary:

The Technical Specialist plays a key role in supporting CSA Group's growth by providing technical expertise to clients and internal teams. This includes quoting, project development, coordination, and execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of testing and certification processes, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Quotations: Assess client inquiries to determine the scope of the project and required hours for testing and reporting.
  • Projects: Coordinate with Operational Teams to ensure technical aspects of testing meet quality measures.
  • Product Line Reviews (PLRs): Lead or collaborate with Account owners on PLRs, from initial discussions to coordination with vendors and testing aspects.
  • Development and Enhancement of Services: Demonstrate awareness of business development possibilities and work with clients and CSA Group teams to construct and validate offerings.
  • Capital Equipment: Investigate capital equipment purchases and assist with installation and functionality.
  • Research: Conduct research on product safety standards, performance testing protocols, and legislative requirements.
  • Technical Committees and Trade Shows: Represent CSA Group at trade shows and participate in technical committees relevant to the product categories.
  • Travel: Some travel may be necessary for client visits and trade shows.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a relevant technological discipline, or six or more years of work experience in the TIC industry.
  • Experience in technical writing, standards development, or process development is an asset.
  • Established network within the TIC industry, including retail and manufacturing client contacts.
  • Knowledge of CSA Group, UL, and other standards, as well as experience with various test procedures.
  • Sales or Marketing experience is preferred.
  • Mentoring skills, strong problem-solving ability, and excellent communication skills are essential.
