Job Title:

Optical Engineer

Job Summary:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to join our team. As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical systems and components. You will work closely with our engineering team to develop new technologies and improve existing ones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop optical systems and components
  • Test and evaluate optical systems and components
  • Collaborate with engineering team to develop new technologies
  • Improve existing optical systems and components
  • Work with quality control to validate hardware components and assemblies
  • Maintain equipment and tool calibration
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience
  • 3+ years experience with assembly, disassembly, and test of mechanical, electro-mechanical, or optical equipment
  • Previous or current experience operating precision hand tools such as micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of basic shop math such as ratios, graphs, algebra, and basic geometry
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and computer proficient
  • Class 3 soldering skills on small complex circuit boards
  • Experience working with free space optics and fiber optics in laboratory settings
