Job Title: Electro-Optical Satellite Payload Engineer

SAIC is seeking an experienced Electro-Optical (EO) Satellite Payload Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the NRO Commercial System Program Office (CSPO). The successful candidate will work closely with the CSPO team to provide technical and programmatic insight on the wide variety of satellite capabilities and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support CSPO in assessing commercial satellite providers' electro-optical space systems, including modeling and simulation results and assumptions.
  • Provide advisory expertise in formal requirements development, analyzing satisfaction of requirements, and coordinating product quality assessments.
  • Coordinate commercial electro-optical providers' support to USG exercises, demonstration, theater downlink tests, and operational collections and deliveries.
  • Apply optical payload engineering knowledge to support acquisition milestone events and reviews, including the generation and execution of briefings as required.
  • Assist in Government source selections and the technical evaluation of commercial satellite provider proposals.
  • Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, commercial satellite developers, and other subject matter experts.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 14 years of experience; Master's degree and 12 years of experience; PhD and 9 years of experience.

· Experience working on electro-optical satellite programs and a solid understanding of electro-optical first principles.

· Strong familiarity with electro-optical system functionality, performance, and product data structures, including MSI, SWIR, LWIR, MWIR, and Hyperspectral.

· Familiarity with electro-optical image product types, collection modes, and quality figures of merit.

· Electro-optical satellite acquisition experience, specifically writing and evaluating requirements, and assessing development contractor performance.

· Ability to contribute to modeling and simulation (M&S) campaigns and assess simulation results.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

· 5 or more years of experience working on electro-optical satellite programs and a solid understanding of EO first principles.

· 3 or more years of experience working with electro-optical image product types, collection modes, product data structures, and quality figures of merit.

· 7 or more years of Electro-optical satellite acquisition experience, specifically writing and evaluating requirements, and assessing development contractor performance.

SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
