Transport Registered Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As a key member of our transport team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to critically ill patients, including neonates, pediatric, and adult patients, during fixed-wing and short- and long-range ground transport.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for critically ill patients in an evidence-based and family-centered manner during transport.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and evaluate respiratory status of critically ill patients, provide therapeutic intervention, emergency interventions, and preparation for transport.
- Assess for and detect changes in the respiratory status of the patient and demonstrate a proactive approach.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to problem-solve, implement respiratory treatment modalities, and interventions to maximize patient outcomes.
- Determine appropriate parameters for mechanical ventilation and monitor effectiveness by blood gas analysis, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and pulse oximetry.
- Perform advanced skills and procedures as indicated.
- Assist the transport RN in any medical interventions deemed necessary.
- Provide care under the direction of medical control and within the policies, protocols, guidelines, and scope of practice as defined by the State of Texas.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient care records.
- Communicate with medical online control regarding patient condition and plan of care during transport.
- Emergently respond and render aid at the scene of an accident until additional support is available.
- Participate in disaster response as directed.
- Demonstrate commitment and dedication to patients and families.
- Demonstrate commitment to program development and quality initiatives.
- Ensure smooth, safe program operations.
- Responsible for maintaining professional development of self and others.
- Required Technical diploma in Respiratory Therapy.
- Preferred associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Required 3 years of critical care experience in a pediatric or neonatal intensive care setting, or pediatric emergency center experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
- Required Licenses:
- RCP - License - Respiratory Care - RCP by the Texas Medical Board.
- BLS - Certification - Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association.
- RRT-NPS - Certification - Neo/Pedi Rg Resp Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (Required within 4 months of hire).
- PALS - Certification - PALS by the American Heart Association (Required within 4 months of hire).
- NRP - Certification - Neonatal Resusci Prog by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association (Required within 4 months of hire).
- ACLS - Certification - Adv Cardiac LS ACLS by the American Heart Association (Required within 6 months of hire).
- RRT CERT - Certification - Reg Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- C-NPT - Certification - Neonatal Ped Transport by the National Certification Corporation (Required within 18 months of hire).
