Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Network Platform Software Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving engineering-wide initiatives for quality, performance, and scaling of shipping products and technologies. You will participate in the architecture and design of new engineering initiatives, protect intellectual property, and engage with industry stakeholders on a technical level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive engineering-wide initiatives for quality, performance, and scaling of shipping products and technologies.

- Protect intellectual property and consider filing patents for innovations involved in our products.
- Engage with industry stakeholders on a technical level, including papers, blogs, talks, and standards.
- Lead a team that implements features and improvements.
- Work with customer and product teams to understand new requirements.
- Plan, schedule, track, and periodically report project status to customers.
- Improve performance and scale of existing features and solutions.
- Help with interview, onboarding, and mentoring of new hires.
- Write feature specifications covering requirements and detailed design.
- Implement improvements and features individually or as part of a team.
- Triage and resolve internal and customer-found issues.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party libraries.
- Peer review of feature specifications, code, test plans, and other engineering documents.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer with a strong background in software development and a deep understanding of pipeline architecture, data path design, and quality of service. The ideal candidate will have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent degree and 16+ years of relevant hands-on development experience in C/C++/Go/Python.
The candidate should have a deep understanding of Broadcom SDK, P4, DPDK, Linux OS internals, memory management, and network stack. Experience with RIB, FIB, and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) is also highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong understanding of high availability, ISSU, Linux networking, Debian Build/Packaging, Linux Kernel, Kernel Networking Stack, Containers, and Virtual Machines (VM).
